Therian World Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Therian World ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website.

2. Age Restrictions

Therian World is intended for users age 13 and older. Users under 13 cannot create an account. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for users in the United States.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following information:

• Account Information: Email address, password (hashed), display name, date of birth, profile picture, bio, and Therian type.
• Location Data: If you enable location sharing, we collect your geographic position (snapped to a ~1 km² geohash zone for privacy). You can disable location sharing at any time.
• Usage Data: Posts, comments, messages, marketplace listings, adoption listings, and engagement metrics (likes, follows, ratings).
• Device Information: Push notification tokens for Firebase Cloud Messaging.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
• Process transactions and send related information
• Send notifications and updates
• Respond to your inquiries and support requests
• Monitor and analyze usage patterns
• Detect and prevent fraud and abuse
• Enforce our Terms of Service

We do not use Google user data for targeted advertising, selling to data brokers, determining credit-worthiness, or training AI models. Google user data is used solely to provide and improve the application's functionality.

5. Location Privacy & Safety

• Location sharing is opt-in only. You must explicitly enable it to appear on the map.
• Your exact GPS coordinates are never shared with other users. Instead, your location is snapped to a ~1 km² geohash zone centroid.
• The zone centroid rotates daily to prevent passive triangulation.
• Exact coordinates can only be shared via mutual consent in private chat and auto-expire after 60 minutes.
• All exact location shares are logged for safety and moderation purposes.
• Minors cannot enable location sharing or appear on the map.

6. Data for Minors (COPPA Compliance)

For users under 13 in the United States:

• Parental Contact: TherianWorld@nollie.net
• Data Minimization: We collect only the minimum personal information necessary to operate the Service.
• No Sale of Data: We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
• Parental Access: Parents can request access to their child's information, correct inaccuracies, or request deletion.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or transfer Google user data or any personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• With service providers who assist in operating our platform (Firebase, Google Maps, RevenueCat), strictly to provide and improve our services
• When required by law or to comply with legal process
• To protect the safety of our users and enforce our Terms of Service

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. You can delete your account at any time via the Settings screen. Upon deletion:

• Your profile, posts, messages, and listings are permanently removed.
• Your location data is cleared from our systems.
• Your account cannot be recovered.

9. Third-Party Services

We use the following services that may collect your information:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, storage, messaging
• Google Maps — map display and location services
• RevenueCat — in-app purchase processing

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption of data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be effective when posted to the app and website. We will notify users of material changes through the app.
